SATURDAY 15 FEBRUARY, 21H30

Grande Auditório
Compagnie Marie Chouinard
The Rite of Spring + HENRI MICHAUX: MOUVEMENTS

Marie Chouinard is a Canadian dancer and choreographer, whose career spans over 40 years. She makes her debut in GUIdance with two particularly significant works from her repertoire: The Rite of Spring (1993) and HENRI MICHAUX: MOUVEMENTS (2011).

Unlike many choreographers, Marie Chouinard built her Rite of Spring around solo performances. Seeking to awaken the power of movement in the mysterious intimacy of each dancer, Chouinard combines deep respect for the body with the desire to transgress its possibilities. HENRI MICHAUX: MOUVEMENTS, the other choreographic work in this programme, is inspired by Henri Michaux's book, published in 1951, with poems and Indian ink drawings, which the creator decided to decode in order to create movements on stage featuring the bodies of 11 dancers dressed in black.

“The energy is explosive, instinctual”
