Mercedes máis eu is a powerful encounter between Janet Novás — dancer and actress who has collaborated with several companies, including les ballets C de la B, and who was awarded the 2024 Goya Prize for Best New Actress — and Mercedes Peón, singer and composer, considered one of the most charismatic women in today’s world-music circuit. Drawing from the cultural heritage of Galicia, the artists create a hybrid duet of music and dance filled with evocative imagery.
Between instruments, memories, songs, and dances, concepts in different states of latency emerge. Some — carrying strong sociopolitical weight — materialize in musical, choreographic, and biographical objects; others, of a somatic or almost-quantum nature, surface in pulses, rhythms and tonalities, in voices and dynamics, in silences and forms.
With a punk spirit and an emancipatory drive, Mercedes máis eu immerses the audience in a contemporary ritual made of memories and intense rhythms, exploring different sensory architectures.
